This console command adds the specified amount of unrest (advancement) to the specified faction. Specify a negative number to remove money from the Curia Treasury. This command adds the specified amount of money to the Curia Treasury. Negative numbers can be used to decrease the absolutism of a country. ![]() If a country tag is specified as a second argument, absolutism will be added to this country. Not that I'm saying that local venture is always the right choice, but it's up there with Manufacturies in good province in the best way to spend ducats to get more ducats. This console command adds the specified amount (number) of absolutism to the country you are playing as. In some case like Russia and Siberia, then the local venture seems to be strictly superior since you get basically all of it in trade, especially with the lack of building slots in that area (though there is something to be said about "state and build manufactories that get the GP bonus from having a trade company in that area" in some case too). How much of it you would get in trade depends, but you would prioritize the TC where you can get majority control, so at least 50% of it, further boosted by trade steering so a manufactory in the home node might not necessarily be much better than an investment in TC land. Of course, in a grain state it's not worth much, but when you have 4 province with valuable trade goods, you get 1.2GP, of which you get 82.5% of the production value (assuming as 90% autonomy floor), so 0.99GP in production, which is basically the same as a manufactory. Local venture is +0.3GP per province though. Of course, late game TCs with all of the money investments and manufactories are beasts, but when you are already swimming in money more money isn't nearly as useful as getting more manpower, for example.Īlso, I forgot to say that the tax investment cane be worth on places with one or more gold mines as gold provinces are always worth deving. As the main source of trade power in TC land is CoT, you are best served conquering/charting new TC than investing on buildings. But going from 51% to 53% isn't nearly as good. ![]() In reality, it is extremely good if pushes your share on the node from, say, 49% yo 51% and net you a merchant. It doesn't guarantee a free merchant and the additional trade power means that the total power of the node increases (again, the bonus isn't as good as it first appears). Needless to say, investments building instantly is a big advantage that they have. Local venture, on the other hand, gives additional production (which is affected by autonomy so it isn't as good as the game implies) and only 0.3 GP in a TC node (this is important because it is much harder to get 60% control of a TC node than it is go control your home nose). Manufactories give a flat +1 GP and you will generally build them in nodes that you own the majority share so you can easily reap both the trade profit and the production increase.

Walmart and Amazon join Alphabet and other companies testing drone deliveries in the U.S. This will clear the way for Amazon to begin testing its drones outdoors in the United States. Amazon’s promise was quite remarkable: Your packagescontaining anything. households to deliver over one million packages by drone each year. Amazon announced an experimental drone delivery service with great fanfare as part of a 60 Minutes feature in 2013. E-commerce giant Amazon confirmed to public radio that it has begun flight testing of package delivery drones at a test range in Pendleton, Oregon, as well as. Amazon gave no details about the prototypes it is test flying there. This summer, Walmart announced the expansion of its DroneUp delivery network to 34 sites in six states by the end the year, reaching up to four million U.S. The uncrowded skies at the Pendleton UAS Test Range have attracted Amazon to conduct package delivery drone testing. Last week, Amazon announced the next drone model, the MK30, will launch in 2024 and is smaller, 25% quieter than the MK27-2 and can fly in light rain. Amazon has been testing drone delivery since 2013, and it made one delivery in 2016, but Amazon has faced high turnover, crashes and safety concerns throughout the testing phase. Federal Aviation Administration granted Amazon approved to operate drone in August 2020. “We’ve made sure that all of those products are both capable of being OK when they are delivered, and our packaging … is a special packaging that ensures that the integrity of the product is still intact after the delivery,” Hendrickson told CNBC. But the drones do have an operator in command that is overseeing the entire airspace,” Hendrickson told CNBC.Īmazon told CNBC that thousands of items are eligible for delivery via drone. It saw something that had a heat signature underneath the drone and was able to not deliver a package and return back to the station. “We like to refer to the drone as being independently safe, which means that it has the power to make the decision. The drone can travel up to 50 mph once airborne and can fly about 7 miles roundtrip. Despite seeing its package delivery drone crash several times while testing it in Pendleton, Amazon is moving forward with. If, when it gets to its delivery location, your dog runs underneath the drone, we won’t deliver the package,” Calsee Hendrickson, who leads product and program management for the Prime Air drone program, told CNBC. Weighing 80 pounds and about five-and-a-half feet in diameter, the drone can carry packages weighing under five pounds, and the orders have to fit in one box about the size of a shoe box. The drone is Amazon’s MK27-2 model and will drop packages from about 12 feet in the air. ALEXANDRIA, Va.-Amazon is finally ready to launch drone delivery, nearly a decade after then-Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos first announced the technology, reports CNBC.īy the end of this year, Amazon will start delivering orders via drone in Lockeford, California, and College Station, Texas. This solution is costly, time consuming, and messsssy! But, the upside is that you can fix/update your electrical to be safer, and more suitable to modern appliances. If I was going to be living in this house for the rest of my life, I would consider a full update, especially if I was already going to be making changes to wiring. This will help eliminate waviness in the wall where the texture might be outrageous (like it was in my house), and allow you to use a thinner drywall.Ī possible major downside to this is electrical boxes? Maybe someone with more electrical knowledge can speak whether adding 1/2 inch thickness to a wall would cause issues with the electrical boxes being set further in? If so, again, I would sand and use 1/4 inch. I would still use a 60 grit paper or paint scraper (if it will cut through your texture) and knock down as much of the heavy texture to allow the drywall to sit closer to the surface. This will eliminate the cracking issues and will give you as smooth a wall as you like, with little mess in comparison to skim coating the entire wall. Using a thin drywall layer over the top may be a quicker and cheaper solution. But, in my case, I know my drywall is sound and not cracking underneath, so I could reliable coat without having to worry about patching too much in the future. It took several coats to get perfectly smooth, and a whole lot of cleaning afterward. ![]() I then skim coated with drywall mud to smooth out the walls. I decided for the first room that I would use a heavy 60 grit paper to remove as much of the larger chunky texture as I could. I recently bought a condo that had nasty texture as well on the walls which I wanted to get rid of. Even if you use a harder more durable mud or plaster, it will still most likely crack because of the age of your house, and the fact that your walls are already cracking (and will probably continue to do so). Skim coating over the plaster that is already cracking would not be a good idea. Here's my take on drywall vs skim vs full update. Our ceilings are also textured and we'd like to smooth them out, but I feel better about throwing drywall up over the plaster there. ![]() Which should I do, and what are the relative pros and cons of each? Something about putting the drywall over the plaster makes me uneasy. This is somewhat related to this question but rather than being a single crack we're talking about most of the walls in a 1400 sq ft home, built in 1925. In addition we are going to be doing quite a bit of rewiring (removing knob and tube) and there are plenty of places where the plaster is cracking, so there is some repair work to be done beyond just skim coating the plaster in places. He also thought it'd be cheaper and quicker to do so. We originally wanted to skim coat the walls to smooth them out, but a contractor suggested that we could put up drywall over it instead since we have some room to give on our baseboards and trim. Our new house has textured plaster walls that my wife and I don't like. ![]() While CPAP in cardiogenic pulmonary oedema has been shown to reduce intubation rate, a randomized trial in acute hypoxemic respiratory failure, showed no effect of CPAP in reducing intubation rate and mortality, despite improved oxygenation. It was a lovely experience to thumbnail back and forth with Dan, whose sense of humor and imagination made brainstorming a lot of fun. We then switched to a school, thinking that school is something that every parent and child can relate to. Originally, our vision of the story began at a summer camp, with the two characters bonding there. Did the vision for that interpretation come easily, or did it take some time to find? You visually interpret the song as the story of two girls, best friends who are separated geographically when one moves away-yet manage to remain close. Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Epic Rights were such amazing partners throughout the book process, and they had final approval of the illustrations. Yes! Henry Cole, on With a Little Help from My Friends: But since Paul had said he liked my own drawing style from seeing my sketches, I just decided to treat the book like any other project and trust that he would like my illustrations. Grandude had a similar personality, so I took inspiration from those characters. Stylistically, I was inspired by the classic illustrations by Quentin Blake, who designed characters such as Willy Wonka and Mister Magnolia. However, they were all wonderful to work with and it went quite smoothly. all had eyes on the book while I was making the illustrations. It was also unique in that there was a bigger team working on the book-Paul’s team, Puffin U.K. But at some point, I had to decide to trust my intuition in drawing-so I just went with my gut. Because I knew who it was for, it was a little bit more nerve-wracking. Starting the book was the hardest part for me because it was so high-profile. In what ways was this project a departure from your prior children’s book illustration-stylistically or otherwise? I appreciated the opportunity to get feedback from such an amazing artist. It was a great collaboration, and he was involved in every step of the process when sending sketches back and forth to the publisher. He gave me a good starting point but left me lots of freedom to create the images. Paul suggested he should have a messy house full of interesting artifacts from his travels, and musical instruments scattered around the space. He had lots of ideas about the personality of Grandude that he wanted to come through in the illustrations. He initially told me how much he liked my drawings, and from there we chatted about his vision for the book. I was lucky enough to be able to speak directly to Paul over the phone from the start for the project. His excitement and passion for the project was infectious, and we both wanted to make an exciting and beautiful book that kids will want to read again and again. ![]() Paul’s lyrics have been so iconic and timeless, and I think his writing translates really beautifully into a children’s picture book. It has been a real treat to collaborate with such an inspiring and accomplished artist. I am a huge music fan and hobbyist musician myself, so it was very cool to work with a music legend like Paul. What was your reaction to having the chance to collaborate with Paul McCartney? My favorite kind of stories to read are adventures with a touch of magic, so this book was a perfect fit for me. He would take us on lots of day trips and would always have something fun for us to do. This story especially resonated with me because I have wonderful childhood memories of my dad taking my siblings and me on exciting adventures, just like Grandude does in the book.
